LIFE OF VINCENT PRICE: PROLOGUE

This page, representing the years before Vincent Price's birth. It serves to inform what kind of family Price was born into.

Dr. Vincent Clarence Price was the actor's grandfather. A shrewd businessman and entrepreneur, he started out in patent medicines in his native Troy, NY. Later, he invented baking powder, which made him extremely wealthy and politically influential. Here's an 1876 Michigan newspaper ad touting his early career. The cookbook on the right was published after Dr. Price's death.

February 10, 1889. A mention of Vincent's father attending college.

       

April 25, 1888. Vincent's aunt elopes. And there are consequences!

September 17, 1890. A new Price family business.

       

May 19, 1893. Two years after selling the business to investors, Dr. Price's factory burns.

October 4, 1894. Vincent's parents marry.
